COVID19 ANNOUNCEMENT- MCCF 2020
Because of ongoing complications due to COVID-19, we’re making some changes to the 2020 Motor City Comedy Festival. Our hopes are that travel will be more freely accomplished come September, but we know our artist friends are hurting.
In the next 24 hours, we’re refunding all submission fees received for the 2020 festival and anyone who wishes to submit to perform this year can do so for free. If anyone who has already submitted is interested in withdrawing because of concerns over traveling or costs, please let us know. Our team of volunteer judges already give up a lot of time to this festival and we want to make sure their time is used efficiently so if you don’t think you’ll be able to come in September, let us know so we can remove you from the adjudication information.
We are going to be scaling back this year’s festival with smaller venues, less comedians, and scaled back amenities for performers. We’re still looking for sponsors to help bring this year’s festival to life and welcome any recommendations. Additionally, we will be trying to develop our workshop program to include more webcasts and Q & A’s with industry professionals to help those who are unable to travel.
The city of Detroit and its surrounding areas need laughs now more than ever and we want to see our artists thrive.
Please feel free to reach out with specific questions.
Thank you all for the ongoing support,
MCCF Board of Directors
Lauren, Kyle, Esther, Kara and Megan
